Welcoming you to a safe stay at Cider Mill Cottage

We have been working hard during the current Covid-19 pandemic so we can welcome our guests back to the Cottage this year.

We will can now re-open from the 4th July 2020, as HM Government, and we will be taking necessary measures to keep you and ourselves safe at this uncertain time.

When you arrive we want you to have the reassurance and confidence that we are doing all we can to keep you safe, so that you can relax and enjoy some genuinely wonderful days in the Teme Valley.

We are fortunate to be part of Sawday’s, and Visit England, and are receiving regular guidance from experts in the leisure and holiday industries.

We have always been recognised and proud of our excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness at the cottage, but we have developed further hygiene measures and incorporated social distancing measures into the functioning of the cottage.

Fortunately Cider Mill Cottage is a “stand-alone’ property, and therefore you will be able to enjoy the space and still maintain social distancing. Other than the owner’s family who live at the main house, you will be the only guests.

What changes have we made?

Checking in and arriving

Before you arrive: you will be sent a digital PDF packed with all the information you will need on the cottage, including useful numbers, local information, walks etc, so that you can plan your stay before you arrive.

The keys to the cottage will be in the key safe - cleaned and sterilised - so you will not need to have any contact with the owners. However we will be on hand and you are requested to send us SMS messages if you require any help, information or advice.

Your Check-In time will be delayed until 5.00 pm to allow us to complete our intensive cleaning. Additionally we will request guest to check out before 10.00 am on their day of departure.

The cottage will only be available for the use of those identified on the booking form, and we will not permit other guests, or other family members visiting the cottage during your stay. This is to ensure we know exactly who is staying and we can then provide correct information for NHS Tracking and Tracing if required.

The Cottage

The cottage will be deep cleaned and sanitised before the arrival of guests. We will use Fogging Aerosol prior to guests arriving in addition to steam cleaning.

We have invested in high pressure steamers to clean all upholstery, curtains, carpets and soft furnishing between guest visits, in addition to the double cleaning and sterilisation of surfaces and equipment.

All kitchen ware and utensils will be thoroughly washed and disinfected between guests visiting.

All surfaces will be double cleaned using steam cleaning (where possible) and industry recommended disinfectants, this will include (but not be limited to ) handrails, remote controls, light switches, plug sockets, dining table and chairs, appliances, door handles, window handles, taps, AGA, hairdryers, coasters and placemats.

We will remove all non-essential items from the cottage which although they are nice, will make it much easier to maintain the highest levels of sanitisation and cleaning. eg: books, maps, board games, magazines, local guide leaflets and surplus crockery, decorative soft furnishing. (Remember there is free Wi-Fi at the cottage so you can use OS maps online, or search for local attractions and information.)

We will provide extra hand wash and cleaning / disinfecting cleaners for guests to use during their stay.

Our cleaners

All our housekeeping will be done in house, so we do not have third parties in the cottage.  We will be equipped with PPE and will ensure that we are well and not displaying any symptoms before entering the cottage. We have followed training guides on new cleaning methods to meet these new standards in cleaning and sanitising.

The Gardens and Swimming Pool

Guests will be allowed to walk around the gardens and use the Barn Terrace but must keep to social distancing measures at all times.

The Barn Terrace will be available for their personal use during their stay. This area and seating will be cleaned and disinfected prior to their arrival.

We are currently awaiting guidance regarding the use and sharing of the outdoor swimming pool . We do hope that we will be able to open it to guests this summer, but are awaiting clear guidance on what sanitising procedures we must follow.

Day of Departure
Guests will be requested to strip the beds of linen on their day of departure, and place all linen, including bath towels and tea towels in the laundry bag which should then be left outside the cottage door.
Guests are requested to leave all windows of the cottage open on the morning of their departure to ventilate the cottage.
Guest will be required to empty all the bins in the cottage prior to leaving, and then double bagging the rubbish and placing it in the rubbish store.  Rubbish sacks will be provided.

If you have brought a pet, please note that we will currently not be providing dog blankets.
